Yes, in most cases you can offer travel insurance as an optional extra during the booking, but what you are actually able to sell depends on the insurance partner available for your market and on the plan you are using. Where a connection is in place, insurance shows up as a simple add on step after your customer has chosen their flight or room, and they can accept or skip it before paying.

When it is switched on, you decide whether to show it at all, and the policy itself is issued by the insurer rather than by glideFares. That means the policy document, the wording of what is covered, and the claims process all belong to the insurer, and your customer will usually receive the policy from them along with your own booking confirmation. Any commission or margin you earn on insurance is set by the insurer, so it works differently from the markup you control on flights and hotels.

There are real limits worth knowing about. Insurance is a regulated product in many countries, so depending on where you sell from you may need your own licence, or you may only be allowed to sell as the appointed agent of a licensed intermediary. Insurers also apply their own rules on traveller age, trip length, destination and how close to departure a policy can be bought. If there is no insurance partner connected for your country, you can still collect your customer's interest at the time of booking and arrange the policy separately with your own insurance contact.

The next thing to do is tell us which country you sell from and whether you already have an insurance partner, and check your own licensing position locally before you turn the add on step on for customers.

Saved.
