In most cases yes, the room rate returned by our hotel booking API already includes the taxes and service charges the supplier collects at the time of booking, but it is not always the final amount your customer will part with, because some local charges are still paid at the property.
The usual ones are city or tourist tax, resort fees and charges for things like parking or use of facilities. Many destinations require these to be collected in person at check in, so suppliers keep them out of the booking total and list them separately as payable locally. Where the supplier sends us that detail, the API passes it straight through, so you can show it on your results page, in your quote and on the voucher. How clearly it is broken down depends entirely on the supplier and the property. Some give you a clean line for each charge, while a few smaller hotels only say that local taxes may apply without stating what they come to.
Because of that, it helps to decide early how you want to present it to your customer. Some agencies show the room total with a separate line explaining what is paid at the hotel, and others put a short note in their booking terms and on the confirmation. Either way, saying it up front avoids the difficult phone call later when your customer is standing at the front desk being asked for something they did not expect.
The sensible next step is to run a few test searches in the destinations you sell most, look at the tax and fee information that comes back for those properties, and then talk to us about the best place to display it on your booking page.
