Can my customers pay for a booking in instalments instead of all at once?
Yes, in many cases, though it depends on your payment gateway and on the supplier holding the booking. Travel agency software can usually split a booking into a deposit now and a balance later, record what has been paid, and show the outstanding amount on the booking screen so your staff know where things stand. The software can also send the customer a reminder when the balance is coming due, so nobody has to chase it by hand.
The part that is not in our hands is whether the supplier will let you hold the booking on a part payment. Some hotel rates and most tour products allow a deposit with the balance due before travel, so instalments fit naturally. Airline tickets are usually different, because the fare has to be paid in full when the ticket is issued, so the deposit would be money you collect from the customer while you pay the airline yourself. That is a commercial decision for you rather than a setting in the software.
Your payment gateway matters too. Some gateways offer a buy now pay later option or can store a card securely and charge it again on the agreed date, and where that is available we can connect it so the second payment happens automatically. Where it is not available, the software can still track the schedule and send the customer a fresh payment link for each instalment, which works perfectly well but needs the customer to act. Which options you have also depends on your plan, so it is worth confirming before you advertise instalments.
The sensible next step is to tell us which gateway you use and which products you want to sell on a deposit, and we will tell you exactly what can be automated and what will need a reminder and a link.
