Can I offer my customers a room with breakfast included and show them which rates have it?
Yes, you can show whether breakfast is included, because most hotel booking APIs send the board basis along with each room rate. Board basis is the supplier's way of saying what meals come with the room, such as room only, breakfast included, half board or all inclusive. When your portal lists the rooms for a hotel, that information arrives with the rate and can be displayed next to the room name so your customer sees at a glance what they are getting.
The important thing to understand is that board basis comes from the supplier, not from us. We display what they send. Most of the larger hotel suppliers send it cleanly and consistently, but smaller ones sometimes bundle it into the room description text rather than as a separate field, and the wording varies from supplier to supplier. That means the same hotel from two different suppliers can describe the same breakfast rate in two slightly different ways. Where the supplier sends nothing at all, the safest approach is to show room only rather than assume breakfast is there.
If you want customers to be able to narrow their search down to breakfast rates only, that is usually possible as a filter on your results page, though how reliable it is depends on how consistently your suppliers report board basis. You can also choose to show only breakfast rates if that suits the kind of travel you sell, or sort them to the top so they are seen first.
It is worth searching a few hotels you sell often and checking how the board basis appears for each of your suppliers, then telling us how you would like it worded and filtered on your portal.
