Yes, it can change sometimes, although most of the time the amount you see in the search results is the amount you end up paying. It is worth understanding why this happens so you can explain it calmly to a customer if it ever comes up.

Hotel search results have to appear quickly, so they are built from recently stored availability and rates rather than asking every hotel fresh at the moment you type a city name. The real position sits with the hotel and the supplier, and it moves all the time as rooms sell, as last rooms go, and as hotels adjust what they are offering. On quiet dates in a quiet season this barely matters. On busy dates, during events, or when only one or two rooms are left, things can shift within minutes.

Because of that, the system checks the room and the rate with the supplier again before the booking is actually confirmed. If anything has moved, you are shown the updated amount and nothing is booked until you accept it, so there is no risk of a surprise charge going through behind your back. Occasionally the room has gone completely and you will need to choose another option. How often this happens depends on the supplier behind that particular hotel, since some hold their rates more firmly than others, so we cannot promise it never occurs.

The practical habit is to confirm soon after searching, read the final screen before taking payment, and tell customers that a quotation is subject to confirmation until the booking is in. If you handle a lot of peak season business, ask us which suppliers available on your plan tend to be steadiest for your main destinations.

Saved.
