Yes, in most cases your customers can add checked baggage during the booking on your website, though how much choice they get depends on the airline and on the flight booking API behind your portal.

When a flight search comes back, the fare usually tells you what baggage is already included, such as a cabin bag only, or a cabin bag plus one checked bag. If the airline sells extra bags through the booking channel, those options appear as paid extras at a later step, before payment, and your customer picks what they want for each direction of the journey. The cost is added into the total so everything is paid in one go, and the selected bags then show on the booking confirmation your customer receives.

The honest limit is that not every airline opens up baggage selling through every channel. Some low cost carriers only allow bags to be added on their own website or at the airport, and some full service fares already carry an allowance, so there is nothing extra to buy. Adding a bag after the ticket has been issued is also not always possible in the same place you made the booking, and in those cases your team may need to contact the airline or send the traveller to the airline directly to arrange it.

Before you promise this to customers, check with us which airlines in your search results support paid baggage at the booking stage, and test a few routes so your staff can see where the option appears and what to tell a traveller when it does not.
