Yes, in most cases you can see whether breakfast is included before you book. When your search comes back from the hotel booking API, each room option carries its own board basis, which is the trade term for the meals that come with the rate. The usual wording is room only, breakfast included, half board, full board or all inclusive, and that sits next to the room name in the results so you and your customer can weigh up a cheaper room only rate against a slightly dearer one with breakfast.

How much detail you get does depend on the supplier behind that particular hotel. Some suppliers send a clear board code for every single rate, some write the meal arrangement into the room description in their own words, and a few only mark it on their better rates and leave the rest blank. Where nothing is supplied we do not fill in the gap with a guess, so a room with no meal information showing should be treated as room only until the hotel confirms otherwise.

It also pays to read the full room description and not just the short label. Breakfast included often means breakfast for the two adults named on the booking, so a third guest or an older child may be asked to pay at the restaurant, and in some countries younger children eat free while older ones do not. Those conditions appear in the rate notes when the supplier sends them, and they are worth passing on in your quotation so there is no surprise at the hotel.

Run a few searches for the hotels you sell most often and see how the board basis comes through for them, and if a rate you want to sell arrives without any meal information, ask us to check what that supplier is sending for that property.

Saved.
