Yes, a flight fare can change between the search and the final confirmation. Flight availability and fares come from the airline or flight supplier, and another traveller may take the last seat at that fare while your customer is entering their details or making payment. A search result therefore shows what was available at the time of the search, but it does not normally reserve that fare.

Before the booking is completed, the flight booking API can ask the supplier to check the fare and availability again. If the original fare is no longer available, the supplier may return a different fare or say that the selected flight cannot be booked. What happens next depends on the supplier, the API connection and how your portal is set up. The customer may be asked to accept the new amount, choose another flight or start the search again.

A fare should not be treated as confirmed until the booking has been accepted and the required confirmation or ticket details have been returned. Even a short delay can matter when seats are limited or demand is high. The portal can make the change clear, but it cannot force an airline to keep a fare that was never reserved.

Check that your booking process performs a final fare check and clearly asks the customer to review any changed amount before payment or ticket issue.
