Will the hotel amount I see in the search include all the taxes and local fees, or will my customer be charged extra at the hotel?

Usually yes for taxes that form part of the booking, but no, not always for everything, because some local charges are only collected by the hotel at check in. When a search comes back through our hotel booking API, the figures are normally split into what is payable to the supplier at the time of booking and what the guest settles directly at the property. That split is what you should show your customer, so there are no surprises on arrival.

How much detail you get depends on the supplier feeding that hotel. Some suppliers return a full breakdown of taxes and service charges, so you can display it line by line. Others return a single total for the stay plus a note that a city tax, tourist tax or resort fee is payable locally. Those local charges are set by the hotel or the local authority, not by us, and in some destinations the supplier itself only has an estimate. Where the supplier does not send an exact amount, we cannot invent one, so the honest thing is to pass on the wording the supplier gives.

What you can control is how clearly it appears to your customer. The payable now and payable at hotel parts can both be shown on your search results, your quote, your booking confirmation and your voucher, and you can add your own standard note reminding guests that local taxes may apply. That one line prevents most complaints and most chargeback arguments later.

Before you go live, run a few test searches in cities you sell often, especially ones known for tourist taxes, and check what your chosen suppliers actually return so you know exactly what wording to put on your voucher.
