Yes, in most cases you can sell extra baggage at the time of booking, and the way it works depends on the airline you are selling. Many airlines now publish their paid baggage options through the same connection we use for the fare and the seat, so when your staff reach the passenger details step they can see the bags that airline allows, choose the ones your customer wants, and add them to the booking before it is ticketed. The bag then sits on the reservation and shows on the confirmation the passenger receives.

The honest limit is that not every airline shares baggage this way. Some airlines only let you buy bags on their own website after the ticket is issued, some only offer them at the airport, and some include the allowance in the fare so there is nothing extra to sell. Low cost carriers are usually the most generous with what they share, because baggage is a large part of how they earn, while a few traditional carriers still keep it off the booking screen. When an airline does not share it, your search results will simply not show baggage options for that flight, and your staff should tell the customer to arrange bags directly.

There is also a timing point worth knowing. Baggage bought after a ticket has already been issued is treated as a separate change by most airlines, and whether you can do that through us depends on the same airline rules. It is always cleaner and usually cheaper for your customer to add bags during the original booking rather than coming back to it later.

If baggage matters to the routes you sell most, send us the airlines you work with and we will tell you honestly which of them support it on the booking screen today.

Saved.
