Not always, and it is worth telling your customers that from the start. Flight fares are live. When you search, the price comes back from the airline or supplier as it stands at that moment, and it can move before you finish the booking. The most common reason is that the cheapest seats on that flight have been sold while your customer was thinking it over, so the next fare level up is the only one left.
In most cases the system checks the fare again before the ticket is issued, so if the price has gone up or the fare is no longer available you find out at that point rather than after the ticket is on sale. That gives you the chance to go back to your customer, show them the new price, or look at a different flight or date. It is far better to catch it there than to issue a ticket at a price you cannot honour.
How long a quoted fare holds depends entirely on the airline and the supplier behind that fare. Some return a price that stays firm for a short window while you collect payment, some only confirm the fare at the moment of ticketing, and low cost carriers in particular tend to move quickly. Which suppliers you have switched on under your plan also makes a difference, so the behaviour will not be identical across every airline in your results.
The practical habit is to re-check the fare just before you take final payment, and to word your quotations so they say the price is subject to confirmation at the time of ticketing. If you want to know which of your connected suppliers give a firm price check step, ask our team to go through your setup with you.
