Can I bring my old customer list and past bookings across when I move to your travel agency software?
Yes, in most cases you can, although how much comes across depends on what shape your current records are in and what the software can read.
Customer contacts are usually the easy part. If you can export your list from whatever you use now, or if you already keep it in a spreadsheet, the ordinary columns such as name, contact details, address, nationality and passport expiry can be loaded in so your staff are not retyping everything. Past bookings can be brought in too, but it helps to understand what they become. They sit in the system as history, so you can search a customer and see what they travelled on before, and your reports can include them. You cannot amend or cancel them through the software, because those bookings were never made through a connected supplier in the first place.
Be aware of the practical limits. Free text notes, scanned vouchers and document copies normally have to be uploaded separately rather than coming across in one go, and if the same customer appears several times in your old list with slightly different spellings you will get duplicates unless the list is tidied first. How much help you get with matching your columns to the right fields can also depend on the plan you are on, so it is worth asking rather than assuming.
The best next step is to export a small sample of your current customers and bookings, look at how complete it actually is, and share that sample with our team so we can tell you honestly what will carry over and what you are better off leaving behind.
